Totally agree that profiling stands little chance for improving safety. The problem seems mainly one of &quot;connecting&quot; intelligence, as you point out. And the obvious: picking up on odd behaviors. The Nigerian, like the shoe bomber 8years ago - who by the way was british- had purchased a 3000$ one way ticket in cash and had no luggage... catching any pattern here, TSA?
Regarding &quot;random searches&quot;, giving the times I have been randomly selected (always!),I see these techniques as subject to the biases of the TSA agent - which makes them predictable and undermines their effectiveness.
Given your last point, I am curious whether you support the 3Ds approach to development sported by both this administration and the last?
Meanwhile, I am not exactly looking forward to the full body searches :)    </description>
